Family Friends of Scouting Campaign
Friends of Scouting (FOS) is our annual educational and fund-raising campaign for the Tuscarora Council. It provides Scouting families and volunteers the opportunity to learn more about and support the Council programs and services that benefit their children and other youth in our communities.
Donors who gift $125 or more will receive a special recognition patch. Individuals can also give to our Friends of Scouting campaign by contacting our Scout Service Center at (919) 734-1714, sending an e-mail to their District Executive, donating online, or by filling out a 2020 Pledge Card, and submitting it the the Council Office.
Special Events and Projects
The Tuscarora Council holds special events throughout the year that increase recognition and raise funds for its programs. These events include golf tournaments, award dinners and more. We strive to keep our costs low so that your support of these events goes directly to program needs rather than event expenses. In fact, many of our events are directly sponsored by local businesses and individuals!
We normally host three separate opportunities for you to support Scouting in honor of the communities in which we serve each year in addition to our special events. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has delayed those event this year. We currently have one event that will be held virtually. On August 27th, at 12:30pm we will be honoring Mr. Leigh Hudson (from the Clayton community) for his continued contributions to his community by presenting him with the North Star Award. You may join us virtually for that event by registering here.
In addition to our virtual efforts, we are also calling on all Tuscarora Eagle Scouts for support in our Friends of Scouting Program. A copy of our Eagle Letter can be read here.
Distinguished Citizen Award Dinners
The Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of citizens in communities across the United States. Honoring distinguished citizenship delivers a message to our youth that character counts. The lives of distinguished citizens put in place guideposts that serve to inspire our youth to lead, to accept responsibility and to care about principles and causes beyond self-interest. Each year the Council honors a local citizen for business leadership, community service and character. This award dinner is a celebration of the honoree’s achievements and also a fundraiser for local Scouting programs.
Matching Gifts Through Your Employer
Some companies will make matching gifts to non-profits supported by their employees. Check with your Human Resources department to see if your company will match your gift to the Tuscarora Council.
Fall Product Sale
This annual event raises needed funds to help local Scout units and the Council provide outstanding programs for youth in Duplin, Johnston, Sampson and Wayne counties. 73% of the proceeds go directly to local Scouting programs.
