Family Friends of Scouting Campaign
Friends of Scouting (FOS) is our annual educational and fund-raising campaign for the Tuscarora Council. It provides Scouting families and volunteers the opportunity to learn more about and support the Council programs and services that benefit their children and other youth in our communities. The campaign runs from winter through early spring. Donors who gift $125 or more will receive a special recognition patch. Individuals can also give to FOS by contacting the Scout Office at (919) 734-1714, sending an e-mail to their District Executive, or filling out a 2018 FFOS Pledge Card(2018 FFOS Pledge Card Coming Soon), and submitting it the the Council Office.
2018 Friends of Scouting Council Video Presentation
Our 2017 Friends of Scouting Video Presentation was a huge success, so for 2018 we’re continuing the use of a video format to show families where the funds from Family Friends of Scouting presentations go, and who they support. You can see our 2017 Family Friends of Scouting video presentation by clicking here: 2018 Family Friends of Scouting Presentation.
Our 2018 Family Friends of Scouting video will be available soon!
Friends of Scouting Dinner
This annual dinner is a chance for donors to experience an evening dedicated to scouting, and helps solidify the end of our Friends of Scouting campaign. Invitations are sent to donors who give $250 or more each year, and these events typically feature a high-profile guest who speaks about their experiences with scouting. Some past speakers have included Coach David Cutcliffe (Duke Football), Erik Montross (UNC Basketball), and Coach Mark Gottfried (NC State Basketball). Each District holds a dinner in their service area, and these events are usually held in March/April.

Distinguished Citizen Award Dinners
The Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of citizens in communities across the United States. Honoring distinguished citizenship delivers a message to our youth that character counts. The lives of distinguished citizens put in place guideposts that serve to inspire our youth to lead, to accept responsibility and to care about principles and causes beyond self-interest. Each year the Council honors a local citizen for business leadership, community service and character. This award dinner is a celebration of the honoree’s achievements and also a fundraiser for local Scouting programs.
Matching Gifts Through Your Employer
Some companies will make matching gifts to non-profits supported by their employees. Check with your Human Resources department to see if your company will match your gift to the Tuscarora Council.
The Tuscarora Council holds special events throughout the year that increase recognition and raise funds for its programs. These events include golf tournaments, award dinners and more. We strive to keep our costs low so that your support of these events goes directly to program needs rather than event expenses. In fact, many of our events are directly sponsored by local businesses and individuals!
Trail’s End Product Sale
This annual event raises needed funds to help local Scout units and the Council provide outstanding programs for youth in Duplin, Johnston, Sampson and Wayne counties. 73% of the proceeds go directly to local Scouting programs.
